In-line Fuel Filter Placement

I have spliced in a small in-line fuel filter between the fuel pump and carb. on my 1983 7.5HP Evinrude. Is this an OK position?
The filter is a "see through" type. Gas does not fill the filter housing completely. When the primer bulb is pumped, gas partially fills the housing. I have tank tested the motor with this set-up and it appears to run fine......no problems at idle or high speed. Do you think that it's safe to take out on the lake?

It should be fine. The air bubble will probably get pushed through in time w/no ill effects. I usually just replace the hose from pump to carb, as there's a screen in the pump cover to catch any crud, and the new line to carb shouldn't decay for decades..

kbait, thank you for the response.
I did use a new fuel line for the installation. The screen in the pump appeared to be very coarse and that is what prompted the installation of a finer filter. Your comments would be appreciated.

Don't worry if you don't see the filter filling up when running as it's perfectly normal. Go run it.
