ODDD1 helped in out in diagnosing that my stator shorted on my Mercury V6 150, but i can't find anyone here in NJ to figure out which one i need. Hopefully someone out there can. The one that i have that bit the dust has 7 wires - 1 blue, 1 blue/white, 1 red, 1 red/white, 2 yellows and a black. The serial # of the motor is 6568583 (no letters before it) It's a '84 Merc 150 v6. The # on the old stator is pretty much unreadble and..that would be easy

Mercury parts express lists your serial number (6568583) as a 2.0 liter 150 hp v-6 model number 1150624. The stator part number is 398-5454A7 $139.05

Thanks Savage. Appreciate it. Hopefully i'll get the right one tomorrow and be able to try her out this weekend. The only #/letter i could make out on the stator was A6, and that was at the end of a bunch of other letter and /or numbers. Hope it doesn't make a difference with the "A7" # you gave me. Thanks again.

-Jersey

Just got the stator. Nobody had the Merc stator but I found one that replaced it by CDI. It says it replaces the merc 398-5454A2, A6, A7, A8, A9, A17, A18 & A55. It doesn't look as nice as the original Merc stator that died (no black cover around the outside) but at least i did find one that looks like it'll put me in business for the weekend and it was considerably less $$. Hope CDI is an okay brand name. I usually always use OEM parts. Has anyone heard of this manufacturer? Hope i didn't just blow $120! O'well, thanks again for the help.

-Jersey
