my last post http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=576535
ok so after my last post of restartiing problems i got home today and put it on the hose to flush engine and i noticed another couple problems maybe related maybe not what do you think? after about 10-15 minutes of running on hose i noticed that the port side cylinder head was way hotter than the starboard side... i could keep my hand on the starboard side but couldnt touch the port side it was so hot. so i switched it off removed the hose then noticed the 2nd problem the small holes under the cavitation plate one on each side right underneath where the lower unit bolts to the mid section (shaft) the hole on the port side was draining really well and steady, however the starboard side (cooler side) was barely draining any water out. any ideas as to why? may be totally irrevelant maybe not. but saturday i had the problem of running in salt water after running about 20 min at almost WOT stopped to fish for about an hour and went to change locations and had to run the fast idle for a few minutes before the boat would stay running in gear or else it would die when placed in gear. so from my last thread i understand it could be flooding or water entering the cylinder. but i also noticed that there was a what appeared to be salt deposits around the cylinder head meeting the block (HEAD GASKET AREA) may not be salt but it was white and chalky, and this was on the starboard side head again the coolest of the two i noticed today. so i could very well have a blown headgasket most likely OR fuel flooding the combustion chamber. but my main thing for this post is the major temp difference.... any suggestions??? stuck thermostat cooling system issue? possible 2 blown head gaskets??/ as a side note i dont believe the temp alarm is working because it never sounded... (minor issue until other problems are resolved then will fix alarm) oh and this a 1981 90 hp evinrude. i plan to change impeller while doing other work along with whjat ever else the problem is. didnt appear to have water in cylinders or atleast no sign on the plugs of water of course with my vast knowledge of 4 stroke engines (car ) the water usually burns off to steam so it doesnt leave traces unless its really leaking alot into cylinder.
