In trouble regardless???

Recently I started looking in the catalogues and stores for some new knit shorts for sleeping in when we go camping or to a motel. After I commented that I was having a hard time finding anything that was suitable and cheap my wife and mother got together and decided they were gonna make me some. I figure problem solved because even if the wife can't sew all that well momma can. Anyway after all the measurments and such were taken they went to work and here less than 24hrs later I now have a new set of cammo shorts that fit and are made better than anything I could purchase. The problem here is they used material that we had on hand and while camo is cool the fact that is was purple camo  I bought many years ago for them to make something for the girls is not. Now I don't intend on parading around in them around town but I do plan on wearing them back from the bathhouse and having them on on those late night runs back and forth so chances are someone will see them. I think they are nicely made decent shorts that given another choice in fabric color i would be proud to wear and say they were homemade but purple camo  I don't know what to do here I want to make everyone happy here and would love to have a couple more pairs of shorts made (thank God there is not enough purple camo  left). If I say anything about the color I may not get anymore but I would prefer blue or grey or something else in fact almost anything else but purple camo
Actually these are not too bad and with some of the things for men I have seen recently I think I would prefer them over some things but still purple camo to me is not for men I think it runs up there with something like pink camo but the wife and mom disagree. I told them I would ask for honest opinions and decided I would try to outline my side of the story some to influence the honesty some LOL. So come on guys what do you think are men allowed to wear things like purple camo or not?

Re: In trouble regardless???

I've seen much worse than purple camo... Heck, you'd probably fit right in around these parts...

Shoot, man, I wore a pitty-tink pink t-shirt once back in the "Miami Vice" era... (oops, did I say that?) Well, it was the only clean shirt I had at the time, and if Don Johnson could get away with it, so could I...

Actually, several young ladies commented on how good I looked in that pink t-shirt on that particular day, and they were'nt kidding... I thought it looked awful, but I ended up with a "dinner and a movie" date that evening... Wierd?

Who knows? Purple camo just might "do something" for your wife? :D

Well Peter, some around here might think I'm a bit
of a redneck and that may well be true. I am
familiar with purple camo. Im pretty sure I know
what it looks like. If my mom made me purple
camo shorts I would definatly be wear'n them, and
I doubdt very much that any one would say anything
negative about them. And I likely would'nt care
if they did. Also I think they are a fair shade
from pink. Just my opinion!
O and btw if they were pink I'd wear them too.

wear them and be proud that they loved you enough to make them for you and if that fails there always is fabric dye

You do have a dilema but your choices are limited, But on the bright side if and when someone does see them if they are checkin your shorts out you have a bigger problem on your hands than color...

Pete,,,I bet if ya' wear them shorts, nobody would say a thing. Make herself and Mom happy if ya did. Would show them you appreciate what they did. Suttle hints for another pair of different color would follow of course and I'd bet you'd get them. ;) ;)

Pete Thats great that they care enough to make em for ya. But whats wrong with telling them that purple camo is not your idea of a color you want to wear. Maybe you should post a photo of em and then let us laugh--- uh I mean tell you our opinion. :D

Re: In trouble regardless???

I feel for ya PFB, I had a mom that made me wear stuff that would glow in the dark to school. How embarassing. example: knitted sweater that was half flourescent green and orange. The lockers would light up as I would walk by, teachers had to wear sunglasses plus I could be spotted a quarter of a mile away...... :(

Somehow when the laundry was being done, too much bleach got added. Ah shucks they got ruined. But if you don't want to destroy them, get yourself a 4Xlarge shirt so it hangs to your knees, then nobody will see your shorts, but then again the women just might find them sexy...

Peter,
Strap a holster on your belt and drop in the biggest sidearm you got. With a 480 Ruger hanging there, noooo-body will see the color of the shorts, and if they do, I bet they will like the color just fine. Just ask em'.

Re: In trouble regardless???

i've always found that after the initial humiliating laughs, it seems ez'r to handle, and after awhile you don't even notice anymore ;)

an i imagine everyone else here has already laughed their a$$'z off just as i have - at just the thought of those trunks :D
-so there, see, you should be feeling somewhat better now! LOL

lmao at DJ's remark too

PS: i bet if you put on a little eyeliner and lipstick, you won't hear a peep from any men, and might get more compliments from the women...

Re: In trouble regardless???

hehehe - PFB, i was just kiddin of course
i would do like others said- wear'em and ask for more(since that fabric is gone).... maybe accidentally let something happen to them, or dye them if you don't like'em.

but then, my wife knows better than dare me to wear something silly - i wore swimmin trunks & cowboy boots to a family get-together at the lake once.

:p lol - i know, it was ridiculous...
laff as you may, but that time turned out to be a wonderful eve for me & the mrs. i used the old saying "i don't take my boots off but for one thing".... so PFB could possibly have an opportunity here. :D

Re: In trouble regardless???

These things are comfortable so I may have to wear them at least around the house but when it comes to camping trips and such they may accidentially get forgotten. Since I have so many responses i guess a picture is in order but I am still waiting for the digital camera to get from Sony to the Office  It is in transit as Sony said they shipped it and the office does not have it yet. Hopefully I will get it soon my only advantage is those people work year round unlike me. My vacation officially started 2:00PM yesterday but I still have to go to graduation tonight at 7:00PM for about 2 hrs.
