hi everyone been lurking for a while, and finally took a trip on the starcraft launch pad
jus got myself a 76 16' ss for use here on giant lake mead. this is a pretty rough lake here due to the high summer winds, and the deep v design will help great for this.I found this one for a good price $450 with merc 800. Gonna set up for fishing by eliminating the bow ride area and add a fishing deck instead. Sorry bout the lack of photo will add later "i know u fellow starcraft lubbers hate no photos" i will get em in soon see u guys and i am proud to be one of U fanatics.

Re: in vegas a new owner!

Welcome Surfturtle, great you decided on a Starcraft. I've just finished a 73 SS 16 footer and I just love my little 16 footer.I did the the same thing your planning to do with yours as I wanted a fishing rig also but I went with a superfisherman style fore deck which allows me to have a complete fishing deck and with the removal of the center board ,I can have a walk through with seating and a place to put your feet.It worked out pretty well. These guys are real helpful with ideas and information on where to obtain things you might need for your project. If you are interested you can check out my SS project photos on my last posting 73 Super Sport 16ft. Done! Anyway good luck with the boat and keep us updated with pics!

Keep talking like that and you're going to have to turn in your torch and club... Noooooo angry mob member in good standing would let such a thing slip :D

Oh, yeah, welcome surfturtle! Be careful out on Mead until you figure out how your boat handles the big stuff. It can get nasty out there real quick, speaking from experience...

Welcome Surfturtle. I think you will really like that boat, it is a great design. You will find all the help you need on this site, as well as a lot of hazing from the ANGRY MOB if you don't conform to the pics rules. :D:D;)

Man the angry mob is gettin pretty soft these days:D

Welcome aboard turtle...great choice on the SS 16 with a Merc 800;)

You paid less than I did so I'm jealous already.

You will find that the hull is very good in waves up to around 3-4'...from what I've experienced:)

Re: in vegas a new owner!

thanx for the welcome guys, i would expect none less, bth this o/b hasnt been started since 1999. I am auto tech and have NO FEAR of anything mechanical, i am sure i will have to replace jus bout everything rubber or plastic but to me thats the fun part plus this is a winter priject for my son and i. are winters are very mild so i can actually work outside for the most part, although this year we have had some highs in the mid thirties. i am at work so i better get back to makin' money, again thanks for the welcome i dont think i could find a better club to be part of.

All those words.......

Huh.

All I read was bla, bla, blllaaa, blalllalblallalnnljlkiij....

Why?

Cause I can't see what your boat looks like turtle, that's why!

Yah, being part of this club has it's pros and cons.;):D:D

Turtle soup's sounding pretty darn good to me.:D

And don't think not putting anything in for your "LOCATION" will save you either...your IP address is being GPS'd as we speak....is that chanting you hear????...no it's not a dream..
