Inboard prop/shaft maintenance

My straight inboard is still hauled out waiting for me to find the time to paint the bottom. The prop and shaft look fine & I was having no issues like vibration etc. at haulout last January. Do I need to pull the prop and clean/grease the shaft & replace the cotter pin, or leave well enough alone? The boat gets little use and is seldom run above 2000 rpm.

It can't hurt to pull the prop and grease the threads. Also you should check your cutlass bearing for wear, check for run-out in the shaft, fix any dings in the prop, and you might want to have the stuffing box repacked while you're out of the water.

on an inboard there really is no reason to pull the prop unless cutlass bearing or prop maint is required.<br /> but the rest of the maint is a good idea.
