Re: inconsiderate people.....
Two years ago, we had the same thing -- there had to be 20 people on a dock that feels crowded with 4 on it. I didn't let their fishing stop me. I motored right through. My godfather, passed away when I was 12, but I remember him saying once -- "If'n I'm gonna be pi$$ed, they might as well be too."
Saturday, it was SO windy when we came into the landing. My wife, 17 and 15 year old daughters held on to the pontoon as I went to get the truck and trailer. When I came down the hill, the pontoon was on the other side of the dock, backwards, and there was a dog on it that my 15 year old was trying to get off the 'toon... The owner let it run around, it jumped on the boat, and with the wind... created such havoc that two of them couldn't hold it. Two guys in a boat on the other side of the dock, JUST SITTING THERE WATCHING... no help? People, come on.
Then, yesterday -- line to use the ramp was 2 long, I'm next in line, waiting patiently... truck moves outta the way, I'm ready to pull in, when the guy that followed me into the state park, pulled past me like there was a fire, and put his boat in. I was stunned -- others at the landing were kinda low talking -- "did you see that just happen?" So... I'm born with a short fuse, and I know it.... Neither the driver, nor his buddy would look at me, thankfully. While he was backing down, I pulled up, missed his front bumper by a few inches. His buddy was holding the boat by the dock -- after the truck moved (which I didn't give him much room) I STARTED BACKING DOWN THE RAMP. The buddy had to jump in the boat, and move it... I was just amazed at what we had just witnessed. Everyone is in such a hurry to get to the water... that common sense and manners go out the window? The commotion is long gone, as we're pulling away, I look back, and the ramp is absolutely empty. Not a soul.
