I can be a Macho Jerk sometimes. Loose tooth when I woke up 1 morning. 2 dentists I use both OKed my Lets see if tooth tightens up.
Stupid logic. Over a year it became more infected slowly. And I resisted losing it.
Finally I call my summer dentist on Friday morning. He is closed Friday to Monday morning. Go to a E R room...........

I have a excellent, caring female dentist as a backup. I call her. They are booked solid on Friday. Can I come in a 10 am ? I arrive. She hears my story. Puts me on Amoxicillin Friday. Next day my hallucinations stop. All my bodily systems start recovering rapidly. Stop taking Ibuprofen. Today, Sunday, I feel FANTASTIC !!!

Moral............ NEVER ask a dentist or dental person about ANYTHING that is not repairing a cavity or removing a painful tooth. They are usually not infection doctors. I switched to the lady dentist as my new full time dentist. (y)(y)(y)

Yep, I had an infected tooth and went to my primary care for amoxicillin. The nurse pointed out that the tooth location and infection was less than 2 inches from my brain. Not good. I got the tooth pulled once the infection cleared.

My uncle had the worst oral hygiene in existence his entire life. It caught up to him in his 50's when all the bacteria on his teeth migrated around his body and first gave him walking pneumonia then settled in his vena cava and caused an aneurysm that was likely months (at most) from bursting. It cost him all his teeth and having his chest cracked open to have an artificial heart valve installed (and the required blood thinners and other meds) for the rest of his life.
