Inflatable seat idea

Looking for feedback and photos regarding this idea for a seat for a 12ft soft bottom inflatable... Currently I have a regular bench attached between the tubes. There are several problems that I am seeking to correct:

1. when jumping waves it is difficult to compensate with legs because the seat is so low relative to the floor, so can't work my knees to absorb impact. My *** starts to hurt very quickly from all the pounding :)

2. when taking long rides my back is bent forward, and starts to hurt after a while, and there is no back support to relax my back.

3. the seat is pretty narrow so having two people on it makes it a bit uncomfortable.

The idea is to make a new bench seat that goes on top of the tubes instead of between the tubes. The seat would have a back. By lifting it up I am hoping to achieve better angle for the knees, and by having back support to have a more comfortable sitting position for long rides. Also by making it wide I am hoping to have more space for having two people on the bench.

The way I am planning to do this is by using the same mounts as my current seat, plus also make it rest in couple points on the transom.

Anybody has any pictures of anything like that or any feedback?

Would either of these work?

The first picture shows 2 sets of seats (3 seats); the second has a single platform with 2 seats. I got them from boatstogo.

Great idea about fixed internal seats, but it's a inflatable air floor. According to my particular long boating experience, the best driving position is to sit on air floor, driver near transon other mates towards middle to bow for correct weight distribution. Your back will rest against tubes, can sib for long hours, this only works well for tall sibbers as will see whats happening in bow front while cruising. Not recommended for short mates. A matter to test if jumping waves.

Will need to fully inflate tubes & air floor to recommended max presure, the slight rocky sensation is kool, a massage like for your back's 3 lettered word :D

Happy Boating

You need a frame.

Re: Inflatable seat idea

I guess the choice is whether you want to sit on the floor without a seat, sit on seats that have their weight resting on the floor with the frame being held in place by the tension between the side tubes and inflatable floor (boatstogo system), or a seat frame that rests on top of the tubes, with the weight being carried by the tubes.

Is there an advantage to having the weight carried by the tubes? I know sitting on the floor is out of the question for me!

that looks so cool. I have a 13' Achilles. How do I get or build one? Can anyone direct me to a webpage or search string for this?

Thanks,
