I have bought that kind of worktwin and now repairing it.
My motor looks just same as Evinrude catalogue 1968. The top of motor is white. And my location is Finland... ;)

I have red here on iboat.forum (the great one !!) everything about Worktwins.

Now I have problem with spare parts, manuals and the year. Where to find?

These Worktwins have only serial number, never model number. I think.
For example Evinrude catalogue 1968 says about 15 hp Worktwin modelnumber "n/a".
My serial is 15402S-J01412.

I already now several these 15 hp Worktwins here in Finland. So these must have imported a lot. Nice motor indeed.

15402S is the model number. it must have been built in Belgium. cannot locate # in US models.

I can't locate the 15402 either. By the usual Evinrude numbering system, it would be a 15hp (15), 1964 (4), rope start (0), short shaft (2), if you can trust that.

It was made in Waukegan Illinois, in the Johnson plant. You know that by the J in front of the serial #, which is 01412. Evinrude serial numbers started over every year, so they don't mean much.

Don't they have Evinrude dealers in Finland? Just asking because I don't know. Certainly, there must be places somewhere in Europe that would be more practical than importing all the way from USA. Again, I don't know. Pardon my ignorance.

From what they look like, the Worktwin appears to have the Gale brand cowl. Gale was another brand of outboard that OMC carried, along with Johnson & Evinrude. The Gale brand was last produced in 1963. I think that the Worktwin is just like the Gale 15, which in essence is just a Johnson or Evinrude 18 horse, detuned slightly.

Gale often went with powerheads that Johnson & Evinrude discontinued. An example is the small displacement 50 horse V4 of 1958/59. Johnson & Evinrude introduced a larger displacement block for 1960, the 75 horse. Gale meanwhile took the old 50 horse block and developed it into a 60 horse. Johnson & Evinrude eventually picked the 60 up in their lineups.
