I bumped into a pretty good price for a 1996 Mercruiser 350 Mag. I'm still waiting on serial and compression check but at 1k including fresh water cooling, outdrive and new stainless prop I'm figuring it would be tough to go wrong. I'm googling away but am not sure about all the specs. I'm assuming it's a 260 hp as it has a carb. I think the mag designates 4 brl but may be wrong. Represented as excellent running condition with 400 hrs. Current owner is converting to an outboard on a bracket.

Any input?

There's not much to used motors. Either they have compression and make full power or they don't. And they either have a bottom end knock, spun bearing, or they don't.

Clarity? Other guy is a moron doesn't help a lot...

$1000 for a complete package is unreal. Either it is not as represented, or he doesn't have a clue (moron) about it's value. Then there is that whole converting to OB thing, so much work and money that he will NEVER recover.
