Info on changing motors

i just bought a 1988 bayliner bass trophy 16'5 foot boat it had a 1988 85hp Force engine on it there was some issue with motor no big deal. my Question is I have a 1979 85hp johnson V4 seahorse model engine it is a 20inch shaft. All i need to know is how long is the 1988 85hp force motor lenth and if the johnson motor will fit on the back of the bayliner boat i just got. If anyone can help with this i would be great.

15" is standard shaft (sometimes called "Short-shaft"), 20" is long shaft and 25" is extra long shaft...

There are several sets of mounting holes on the transom bracket to allow up/down fine tuning of engine height. You want to start with the AV plate (the flat plate just above the prop) about 1-inch higher than the bottom of the boat. Fine tune from there.
