Thanks everyone for all the information. I have one more request. Does anyone know where I can find some information on floor restoration? The cuddy looks in great shape. The area around the engine and looks rotten. I might have to replace some of the wood.
Thanks again, those two service manuals were great help.

Head over the restoration forums here. However, if you have rot around the engine, there's a very very high likelihood that you have rotten stringers +/- transom in addition to the floor. Unfortunately, this is a major undertaking. You may want to consider whether the boat is worth the time/effort. At the very least, you need to pull up the rot to check the stringers. I'd also drill some test holes in the transom.

a 4.3 wont fit in that small compartment and the mounts wont work.
You would have to re fit the engine compartment. I have a 3.7 and its fine.
Do a head gasket /intake and exhaust manifold gasket maintenance.140 in parts it should only take 1 1/2 . have a head milled for 120.00 and your done. I hope you did not pay over 800 for it.
If it runs use it for 2-3 season and dump it. You don't dump 1,200 plus into a 800 dollar boat.
