Please help!

I inherited an older 14 foot starcraft super star from my grandfather. I am pretty sure that it is pre 1970 but don't know how old. I'm looking for any useful information on restoring it, tips for this particular boat. Any info on the model, age, or resource for parts.

I completed a restore on the "dilly" trailer about 10 years ago and it has been garage stored since. My 7 year old is dying to have me take him out fishing on it, but I want to go over the basics with it first.

Replacing transom wood, replacing foam under seats, etc. Any other thoughts would be great. Eventually I'd like to repaint the weathered hull so paint tips are welcomed.

Also, nearest lake will not allow gas engines so I've been considering buying a trolling motor just to get about. Tips on size for the boat would help.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to iboats Gig9dug.

Where are you in WI ?

No gas engines on a lake in WI? I only know of a few of those.

Not familiar with your boat model.
A photo will help us gauge the year for you.

Does it have a hull id number on the Starboard side of the transom?
Post the number if it does.

The restoration section will have the most info on painting.
And there is a Starcraft forum section, which covers many full restorations.

A trolling motor in the 30-45# thrust range should be sufficient.

Living in Brown County near Green Bay. Nearest lake is Lilly, which is no gas engine hence the idea of a trolling motor.

There is the Starcraft Mnf plate on the transom that lists the ID number as 924685.

Welcome to iboats and the Starcraft fleet. nice boat you've got there:)

The corner caps with the stars on them are pretty sweet. Not all of the model years came with those.

There is a brochure thread, linked in my signature. Check out various years, maybe the measurements will tell you exactly which year you have.

Gluvit is my first recommendation to seal seams and rivets. Since you mention taking your son out it will be nice to ensure the boat won't leak for many years.

Check out a few thread for ideas, good luck to ya!
