I have a 1996 Bayliner Capri 1600 ls and it has a 1996 Mercury Force 90hp engine on the back. I am doing away with that engine and plan on putting a Johnson 115hp on it. The existing fuel pump is shot, I need to know what i should replace it with. I need to find one that will fit right in the existing plastic gas tank. Can anyone help me??

You shouldn't have a fuel pump in the tank. It should be on the engine. Replace the engine fuel pump with the correct one. Anything else would not be safe.

An outboard motor does not need, nor should have, a fuel pump in the gas tank.

Look at what the fuel line connects to on your outboard engine. THAT is the fuel pump. Now that you know where it is...what makes you think it is shot ?

Re: Information on a fuel pump

I'm sorry y'all, i was missinformed about what the device was. I was told that is was a fuel pump, but when i tore the floor out i could see it was the fuel sending unit. If anyone has any advice on fiberglassing a 1996 Bayliner Capri 1600, please let me know. Lol.

There is plenty of information over in the "Boat Restoration, Building and Hull Repair" forum on fiberglassing and restoring boats. Good luck with it!

Ouch... Sounds to me whoever gave you the "misinformation" owes you some glass and labor hours... ;)
