Re: information please
Hi, Mercom.

Your 1969 25hp uses a 50:1 fuel mix, 87 octane unleaded and TCW-3 Outboard oil.

The engine may start with no trouble. Possible troubles associated with the long lay-up include failed fuel pump, gummed up carburetor, fuel feed restrictions or air leaks, or dried out condensers in the magnetos.

If she starts or not, you will need to replace the impeller in the water pump. Their life is time limited, without regard to usage. While you are down there, replace the gearcase oil.

Things to check in the ignition system include point gap (.020"), clean and gap sparkplugs (.030").

You will do no harm if you overhaul the carburetor and fuel pump. Gaskets, diaphrams and seals dry out in time.

To many folks the above reads like Greek. If that includes you, get a Repair Manual which will explain it all.
