My 74 135 Hp Evinrude has 2 cracked ignition coils.

Manual states model 581032 Research shows subsequent OMC models as replacements 582160, 584632 & 502890. I also find Sierra #18 5194, Mallory 9-23105 and CDI 183 4632.

I have read here where some recommend to replace all coils (4) at once. I have found all of the above models at one source or another. But being a bargin hunter these sources have 1 to 3 coils not 4.

Questions are - Is it ok to mix and match models or mfgs of coils?

Is OMC the best or are the others just as good?

Is it ok to just replace the 2 that are cracked?

The CDI 183 4632 appears to be a different style and one site stated that all coils must be changed at the same time, has anyone used these and are they good?

It's 16 degrees and 2 degrees wind chill, I'm not running right out to do it, but it is on the list when things warm up a bit. I'd like to get some on order. Let me know.

I prefer CDI parts..and go ahead and replace all 4. I know times are tight but it will be money well spent.

The CDI has a wire that looks more like automotive style female plugs on both ends. looks like a good route. Found them for 24/per +ship.
