I broke the + stud off my ignition coil when I was cleaning the terminals. Need a new one. The coil is a Diamond E-035 and says "Use with external resistor". This sounds like a points coils to me. The boat has no points. I don't get it.

I would like to get a new one today. Is the coil a marine part or can I pick up a coil at an auto parts store? If I can get one at an auto parts store, any idea what coil I should ask for?

Re: Ingnition Coil

External resistors are used in other than points stlye ignitions, so replace with a like coil if you had no problems before. Coils like the one you have do not need or have a Marine version. Just buy a high quality oil filled for external resistor. Pay attention to the coil tower height, that is the main thing to match physically.
