Inline 6 Mercs

Does anyone know when Mercury stopped making the tall inline 6 and went to the v-6?

Mike, Merc made both the inline 6 and V6 for many years, starting in 1976, and ending in the late 80s. The 1977 Merc 1500 (150HP) was replaced by the 150HPV6, in 1978. The max power on the inline 6 was 115HP, from 1979 on. There was a Merc 140HP inline 6 (same as Merc 1500) in 1978 and 1979.
