where inline 6 motors by mercruiser ever equipped with powersteering system?

It wasn't so much if the engine had a pump, it was if the steering system on the hull was built for power steering.
A couple of weeks ago someone wanted to install power steering pump on his boat.
When asked if the steering bracket on the upper, inner transom had the fittings for the power steering hoses, he was unaware that the other end of the hose had to connect somewhere.

Yes.

On my (former) 1966 MarkTwain with 150 Mercruiser (230 CU-IN 6), power steering was an option......Dad didn't buy it, but wished he had!!

Ayuh,... Once you manage to find an actuator for the transom,...
A pump,+ bracketry from a 3.0l will fit the I-6...
