inline 6 questions?

I just installed a 140 hp inline on a 18' 1972 Winner boat. It had a Chrysler. This Mercury is great. Has a lot more power and runs a lot smother. Question is what is max rpm to run one of these motors. I never turned the old Chrysler above 5000. This Mercury wants to blow right past 5000 as it is coming up to speed. Also on the Chrysler it had the size and pitch stamped on the hub side of the prop. I don't see anything on the Merc. It appears to be a stock aluminum prop. Thanks for any help.

5500-5800 with the boat in a light condition. The prop should be marked on the center hub behind the prop hardware

Exactly. Prop it to make that.. but cruise day to day at 4000.

Rider...
I had a 1150 1976 year.
That motor seized 3 times due to poor lubrication... mechanic said!
Keep in mind to clean the carbs frecuently, because lean mixture can damage these engines.
Years later, I sold that old merc and did buy the 1750...better engine...
Now I´ve twin 2.5L 200HP...they are good engines...
Saludos
Carlos
Venezuela
