I Have a 70hp 1978 mercury 2 stroke which doesnt have an inline fuel filter and was thinking of adding a fuel filter inline. Would it work ok on a 2 stroke or would it filter all the oil?
Also which should a put it in the fuel line( eg after hand pump, before hand pump, on motor?)

Re: INLINE FUEL FILTER

You can use a car filter for keeping the petrol clean.(app $5.00) Has no effect on mix. I use one for both my motors. Merc50 and Suzuki 6 Aux.
No problems... There will be a filter in your fuel tank pick-up also.. in case you didn't know. ;) Mine are located between bulb and motor.I've run both motors at high RPM with no flow restriction or any other interference to fuel supply.

These work well! All you need to get is 2 3/8" barbed fittings (Like These) at the hardware store to complete it. I have mine in between the tank and the bulb.

web page

Re: INLINE FUEL FILTER

I was just suggesting that a water/seporating filter would be good at this time to take the place of the "Normal" inline filter. But, you are correct, that one is very easy to install.

DEJENAN

Whitworths are pretty competitive and there is one in Adelaide (Vincent St). they have a great FREE catalogue too. But shop around, coz they are not always the the most cost effective.

Rick..
Those are Aussie bucks though..
It would be around $60.00 US and your parts are also way cheaper over there.(Probably more competition) :(
