Inline fuse holder install

Hi there, just purchased a kayak and am installing a new raymarine dragonfly 4. Instructions call for installing an inline fuse holder with a 2 amp fuse. The red positive power lead from the dragonfly has very small gauge wire, probably 20 or 22 gauge is my guess. Now all the inline fuse holders available locally have a much heavier gauge wire, like 14 or even 12 ga. Is this ok to go from say 20 ga to 14 ga?? If so, what kind of butt connector should I use? Ideally a step down type but very hard if not impossible to find around here. I'm sure this is a common issue when wiring fishfinders. What do most folks do ? Unit will be powered by a small rechargable 12v sportsmans battery with the male blade type terminals on top.

Using a larger wire than needed is hardly, if ever a problem.

I solder and shrink wrap all fuse connections in this situation.

Do yourself a favor and buy a good quality, sealed fuse holder. Anything less is just asking for problems down the road.

Thanks, any suggestions on what brand fuse holder to buy? Should I get a bulb type or blade type?

When trying to butt connect 2 wires of much different gauges I strip about 3/4" of the smaller wire, fold it in half and twist it together to double the size.
Or twist the smaller wire around the larger and only use one end of the butt connector.
