Re: input shaft installation

More Muscle. :)

New orings are hard to get in most of the time. I replaced the o-ring seals on the upper-to-lower seal on my Cobra, I'm close to 300 pounds and even with my full weight on it and plenty of white grease, it still took everyting I had and plenty of twisting and wiggling to get the two case halves back together.

Someone might have a trick for that particular job, but in general, the good part is that the new ring will seal better, the bad part is that it seals better because it's tighter so it's a b!tch to get back on. ;)

It's better to pull the assembly back out and then heat the snout with a propane torch. Then install the driveshaft, it will slide in freely.

OK Thanks!
You mean to heat the hole in the upper drive housing where the input shaft sits then?
Regards
Affa

I just heat it from the outside so that it will expand the few thousandths of an inch it takes to get the shaft in.
