Input shaft pinion nut size?

Redid the water pump on my spare alpha one unit. Needs an input shaft seal as well. I didn't have a large enough socket to remove the pinion nut (7/8" was the biggest I had with me). Thought I had a spare shaft at home, but can't find it. Can someone tell me the size of that nut? Would like to get it done this weekend, rather than go boating with the 3+ year pump in the old unit...
