I recently acquired a 19ft stingray, I know there is some rot on the back left and I repaired and put new floor down as a patch job to try and get through the summer. Everywhere else in the deck is solid.

I have a 4" inspection cover that I would like to place somewhere towards the middle of the boat to get an eye on the stringers and condition inside the hull up front.

Where could I place this without risking cutting into a structural support / stringer? The gas tank is located in the rear of boat so no worries there.

Any help is greatly appreciated. The boat is a 1981 SVC 190 Stingray. Photos attached for a better idea.

If you lift the engine cover you may be able to look forward (assuming the centre channel is open and without bulkheads) as a minimum you should be able to judge the distance between stringers. You can also gauge the total thickness of your decking and set the depth of your cut accordingly
dont forget the most common phrase used in the restoration and hull repair section

“the decking is the last thing to rot “
