I'm buying a boat and i need to get the trailer inspected. Does anyone know if you need a spare tire for the trailer to pass? Can the boat be on the trailer to get it inspected?

Also, anyone know why selling prices for boats are more than the book value? Dealer's saying the MONEY is in used boats.

you do not need a spare tire for inspection in md, but it would be a good idea to have one in case you have a problem on the road. and yes the boat can be on the trailer, im from md and just had the trailer inspected with the boat on it.

This trailer has breaks. I heard its hard to find a inspection station that does boat trailers with breaks. True?

Book values are notoriously wrong. If I put my boat up for sale at book value I?d have a line at my front door that went around the block,

Any trailer over #3500 in Maryland requires brakes. Never had a problem finding an inspection station tht would inspect a trailer with brakes.
