Instaling new gauges.

Hi guys! So i'm putting new gauges on my boat and i'm a little stumped with the tach here. The instructions are talking about the number of poles on the alternator so i can adjust the knob properly (2p-3p-4p-5p-6p). Of course, i don't have a clue how many "poles" are on this motor. It's a 1982 115hp Evinrude. Any help would be great.

i'd say 6p, at least it was for my 1986 120hp johnson. i beileve it's the number of poles on your alternator.

Six should be correct; that what my 87 150 is set on.
