I would like to install a storage compartment in the floor of my boat (2001 Bayliner Capri 160). I cannot locate the schematics for the stringner system on this boat. Any suggestions as to where to look for the plans would be helpful. (Tried to contact Bayliner with no success and dealer is not much help either.) The floor is made of marine plywood with carpet glued on. It seems to me I should be able to add one in the center of the boat between the helm and port seats. I am looking at adding one that would be 12 inched deep by 12 inches wide by 24 inches long. Can this be done? Thanks

I rather Doubt there's 12"(deep) of space below the floor board.....
Go the the project boat forum... CCrew, msmorto,+ a few others are rebuilding Bilgeliners..... Even thou they are working on Older boats, I Doubt Bilgeliners have Changed very much in the way they're put together......

Good Luck..........

I know that you don't have 12" deep space, and the other under floor space is taken by the gas tank. The only under floor space you have is what is there now.

Re: Installing a storage compartment

There currently is no access below the plywood floor of the boat, so unless I find the plans for this boat, it will be hard to tell if there is 12 inches or not. The gas thank on this boat is on the port side in the back of the boat and above the floor, so it should not be an issue in the middle of the boat. Anyone having a direct contact into Bayliner would be helpfull. Thanks.
