Hello all. I am installing a drive 5" extension spacer on a 2006 Merc 115 4 stroke. Currently, it is a 20 inch shaft, but with the extension, it will be a 25 inch.
I have the spacer, the new longer driveshaft, longer studs, etc. I have never drop a Merc lower unit before. Can someone pls guide me through the steps? Also, how easy is to remove the old driveshaft and put in the new longer one in there? Does it just come off or do I have to pull out retainers, clips, etc??
Wondering if this is a do it yourself job or should I take it to a mech to do? I have always done all my work, but this engine is new so I am a bit worry about screwing anything up.
