I would like to install an inverter on my Doral 250 SE and need some assistance to determine what the symbol/dotted line signifies on the attached schematic. Your feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hard to tell because the picture is so small but it looks like a transfer switch. It makes sure you don't back feed inverter output back into the shorepower. Make sure you don't have the inverter back feeding the lines and electrocuting someone.

Looks like a ganged circuit breaker(s) setup... JMHO!

That line indicates the switches are interconnected, mechanically. It ensures you can't have both on at the same time. Turn one of them on and it locks the other out. Reason: The major obstacle to paralleling AC sources is what's called 'phasing'. If you connect them and the phasing is out, the damage can be catastrophic! One large boats (work class) with multiple gensets, before they are connected together the engines/generators are 'synchronised'.... Look up 'phase sync meter'...
