I'm preparing to re-carpet my 19 ft. Invader. The flooring is in good shape except for minor re-inforcements. I am considering installing new carpet over the old one. Any suggestions from past experiences?

RCabrera,

Take the old carpet out. Carpet is bad enough for holding water, two layers is double trouble.

I know it's a pain to get out but you'll thank yourself later.

I'm with Djohns.

I think any carpet is bad for a boat. I would prefer Rhinolining.

I have recarpeted before. I say take the old one out. Not only is it a good idea but you can use the old one as a template if you can get it out without destroying it.

From a 20 year flooring installer. Do what boatingfool says. It is the easiest way.

I forgot to say that I will be installing the tile on A bass Tracker pontoon boat with a wooden floor that has been sun beaten. I will remove carpet and sand it down and replace it with glue and flexible tiles.
