Installing casting/freeze plugs in 350 block

I'm about to install the three casting plugs on the front of a 350 block from -96. The manual says nothing about how it's done. Should I just hammer them in? Do i need to seal them with something? Thread sealer or something like that? How far in should they go?

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Those core plugs block the oil galleys,...

I'd give 'em a light coatin' of Perfect Seal, 'n drive 'em home,...
Then stake 'em in-place like they were originally...

Perfect seal is thread sealer right? I've read about it in the manual but I all I could get my hand on what arp thread sealer.

I don't know how it should look since it was the engine builder guy who took them out. I search the internet for pictures but can't find any.

I know a lot of good engine builders will tap those holes and install 1/4" pipe thread plugs for added security.

Agree with Fishermark. Use the allen type plugs that have nothing protruding. Common replacement any speed shop can set you up. Just be sure to pack your tap with grease to catch all the metal shavings.
