Re: installing impeller

Soapy water on the housing, turn the shaft counterclockwise (via the prop is how I do it), while pushing down on the whole assembly. It'll go in. You may need a helper if it's really tough.

Re: installing impeller

i do put it in the housing first, and make sure the key is in the shaft straight and even, then align the impeller on the shaft then the housing, and slide down, align the key with the impeller, and it slips right on. yes i use soapy water also. this way i know there are no bent or miss place vanes.

You can do shaft first or housing first, doesn't really matter. Personally, I find putting it on the shaft first makes it easier. To each their own.

Re: installing impeller

i like to use vaseline. also i put the shift rod on last. but i got some short(about 2") pieces of hoses to go over water tubes to extend them and make it easier to line them up with the water pump housing first.
