Installing keel guard?

I saw a boat on ebay and there was what looked like a fabric strip glues to the front keel so that rubbing a trailer or sand area will not wear away the hull. I am not talking about a sailboat keel but rather a power boat. Bayliners are rumored to have a very thin hull and my keel is in great shape, and thus I would like to keep it that way. So here are my questions:

Were do I get a keel guard, and what kind of material is the best?

By intalling one, does it cause enough extra drag to notice?

Lastly, do these need to be professioally installed?

Re: Installing keel guard?

For a 20' boat what size guard should I buy?

Also what kind of speed reduction is this going to cause?

Re: Installing keel guard?

No notice of speed loss........ call customer service and ask for advice. If it was my boat........ I would say a 6-8 foot piece will work. Look at your current scuff marks and see where they extend to and measure it.
