I have a 1979 magnium 17 ft it has the walk thru windshield and the u shaped seats in front. The seats that are on the drivers side and the passenger side are the fold down lounge seats. I am taking them out tonight and want to install a pedistalseat on each side like in the bass boats. the ones they fish from. Right now cant hardly even see out windshiled unless you sit on top of seat. Is their any special way that i need to do them. Also just a little way behind them i want to put two more in for us to sit on to fish from both sides of the boat. Please help with someone has done this before.

I have other plans on doing things to the boat after this is done.

Thanks

Re: Installing new seats ???? help please

Ditching the back to backs for pedestals is pretty common...I still have one back to back on passengers side but if you are into fishing they are useless and take up a lot of deck space.....they do have their uses like an extra place for someone to sit and my wife has folded it out for lounging around some but if were completely up to me I'd go 2 pedestals and gain the extra fishing space.

I've seen the second set of pedestals as well but in my opinion I dont like the looks of a second row....they just dont look right to me....taking up all that deck space to get you a few feet closer to the back seems like a lot of expense when you can just spin your forward pedestals around and be pretty close.....but thats just me and what do I know.

As far as installing, you can either use ss lag bolts I would guess about 5/16" or 3/8" diameter and lag into your deck or the better way would be to use those toggle bolts that allow you insert the toggle and the sleeve that holds the toggle underneath.
