I purchased a matching long block to replace mine. When I pulled the motor, I left the VolvoPenta out-drive in place. As long as I am detailed in setting the engine mounting on the new block exactly the same as was on the old block, will I have issues on re-alignment with the out-drive? What is prudent in this situation?

Pull the drive and get an alignment tool; follow the alignment procedure be sure to measure 4 times it with the engine turned 90* from each measurement.

you need to pull the drive

you need to align after you touched any of the mounting bolts. this includes removing the motor

you need to check alignment every year.

Volvo recommends replacing the bellows every 2-3 years

therefore, spend the $39 on an alignment bar or pay someone to service your drive.
