I just installed my new digital speedometer to my Yamaha 90 hp 2-stroke.
All electric functions worksfine but I don't pick up any speed.
When I blow in the hose to the speedometer I get readings.
When I blow in the hose that goes to the gear house nothing happens, I can not press any air thru. I also tried a pump and applied 5-6 bar, no air vent thru.
I checked the gear hose for a pito (?) tube but couldn't fined any, were exactly shoudl I look, and for what size?

This is a new installation and the instructions only describes how to open the hose-nippel.
IS there any additional things that need to be done for a new installtion? like drilling a hole?

Re: Installing Yamaha speedometer

There should be a small pitot in the front edge of the gearcase. Most likely clogged up. A very small drill bit and a lot of patience will most of the time clear it out. Use a small hand operated drill. Do not break the bit in it trying to use an electric drill. Good Luck.

OK, I will try.
The thing is that the boat is in the water and we only got 12°C in the water.
Any idea how to do this with out getting the boat out of the water?
What drill size should I use (mm)?

TIA

Jakob
