Insurance Company Recommendations for '74 Glasply?

I'm going to try to get full comprehensive insurance for my boat. I'd prefer something that covers mechanical breakage if possible. Progressive doesn't seem to have that as part of the policy. Any recommendations for a company that will include coverage of mechanical problems on a boat this old? Anyone have experience with having a company actually pay out (or not pay out)??

i dont know about us insurance......but if you could get a ploicy that covered break downs.....it would probably cost more than the boat !

thats like an extended warranty policy on a car. most of the time they don't pay, any way. you also need to find out what they will pay out, for you boat if it is totaled. probably less than $1,000. is it worth it. does not matter the condition of the boat.

i just bought a 1985 Astro Van for a tow vehicle. the difference in premium per month was $80. thats $960 a year, kind of hard to swallow, when i paid $500 for the vehicle. in 2 years i would have paid more premium, than the pay out on the van.

And many times at 15 years OR some other age your coverage on things like lower unit dammage from groundings will start to decline in % as it gets older

WAY---WAY too old to buy any warr--also--given the age and value---just buy good liability ins and save the rest of your $$$$$---find a good backyard mech whos good with older boats and you will be way ahead---good luck STEVE
