I have a 1987 19 Foot Invader that I bought for $2k. The boat isn't bad looking and I can probably sell it for a lot more that I bought it for. Anyway, this is my first boat and it's about time to get some insurance. I need help...The boat cost me $2k....What kind of insurance would make sense for me to get???

:D :D ;)

Actually, HollaGeo, IMHO for a 2 to 5k$ boat, the only thing you should get is liability. It is dirt cheap for a boat.

Re: Insurance...

Do you own a house? Or have a renters insurance policy?

Check to see if they will add it to that policy.
Mine costs me $90 for liability and $4000 worth of fire/theft coverage.

Coverage may depend on the age, value, motor size, etc.

For a $2000 boat, I would go with liability only.
If you get theft coverage, make sure it will pay a specific amount, not "book value."
