Look on the side the marine units often start with a 17

that's a Merc number, if you used a Merc rebuild kit that # should work...
look at this pic, the original Rochester carb # is circled in white....
having the original Rochester # enables you to get a better kit from Cliff's.

Also will it hurt anything if I just leave the old stove choke right where it is & convert it over to electric?

Based on the kit I have I think you have to remove it because the bracket for the conversion fits where the spring used to be; at least it does on the small block. You have a big block so your need to go research that

That might be in issue…the Philips screw retaining it is pretty stripped out…
