interesting temp sender problem

Hi, has anyone encountered the following? I seemed to be getting eratic temp readings and found that when i had previously rebuilt my engine thermostat housings they had become insulated from earth via the gasket. I earthed the housings down to the block and the instruments behaved. If anyone has engine temp readings problems, it may be worth putting a meter across the thermostat housing to the block. Now back to finding out why one of the engines is overheating!
Any suggesting for checking water flow through the risers? How much of a flow should there be from the leg water pump up to the stat housing?

Cheers Bob

Bob,

The genuine gaskets have brass eyelets in them for grounding... Sounds like non-genuine parts have been used, again..

Don't know which engine you're talking about, so can't advise on water flows.
