interior painting

hey guys my restoration of my 1974 bayliner liberty is in the final stages ive tried removing and paint all the panels/door and thought it went well, when freshly painted it looked great i sanded the panels down with a low grid paper to rough the finish up to help the paint to stick. The problem im having is it scratches/chips very easy and feel i need to do it again. i didnt prime them first. looking for ideas here each piece got 4 coats or so. just using a dark brown exterior paint from home depot

your using house paint?

you need primer for paint to stick, however latex paint may be ok for a house (its actually kind of poor as far as paints go), it really wont stick in a marine application.

pretty sure you will be stripping off the latex, applying a good 2-part primer followed by a good catalyzed paint

Uhmm...Yeah!!! Exterior Latex House Paint and Fiberglass Boats is kinda like Putting Ketchup on Apply Pie...You can do it but...I guarantee you WON'T like the results!!!!:nono:

k thanks guy 2 be clear im painting on wood panels not on fiberglass at all but i think i get it 2 part prime then some paint

On the cheap side, even Rustoleum woulda worked well.
