intermetant no start

Having problem with my boat, If I let my boat sit a day or two it wont crank pull starts fine and will crank after that and once in a while that same day it wont crank again. Its driving me crazy... have taking it to the marina twice<br />repaced starter solenoid twice marina says no drain on battery no shorts that they can find.<br />Reviewed the FAQ's on starting outboards..new battery and all conections are real clean, does this sound like a bad ground short or what? 90 hp merc outboard..

Chip - I had the same problem on my Mercruiser. The first time I tried to start it after a week, I had to use a clip lead to engage the starter soleniod. I of course, replaced the solenoid, to no positive effect.<br /><br />The fix was to replace the ring terminal on the sloenoid wire from the ignition key. The ring terminal looked OK, but did not make a good connection to the wire.

Id check the starter. Bad brushes can cause this and dirty comutators.
