intermitent fire on port bank

1977, 85hp loses fire on the port bank. If I check the fire on the starboard bank(which is always good) and check the port side again the fire will be back, hot as ever. It will run great, untill I shut it off. At which point I lose fire to port side again. I think my powerpack is failing, does this seem right?

OK, so I need a powerpack. Can the sierra packs here on iboats be trusted?

i have a sierra on one of mine, and a cdi on another.

I have had good luck with cdi powerpacks, but the cdi pack is unavailable for my motor. I have never used sierra electronics. Hopefull it will be built better then the sierra water pump impellers I have replaced so often. New ones on the way, so win or lose shes all mine.
