Intermittent four beeps engine sputter

Hi,
I have a 115 Mercury Pro XS engine with about 40 hours. This issue has happened 6 times months apart. I'll get 4 beeps, engine will shake and sputter, return to neutral, engine sounds fine. this will happen 3 or 4 times and not happen again. sometimes when throttling, sometimes when cruising. Its been back to the dealer...no code and they were unable to replicate.

4 beeps is water in fuel on Optimax motors. Not sure about yours. Do you have the water separator under the cowling like Optimax?

Finding it could also be low oil

only if a water separator standard equipment for a 115 pro XS.

Check your water separating filter. I have a 2016 115 merc. It has a pre filter like this inside the boat. There is an alarm for water detection on the water trap bowl on the bottom of the filter. It’s connected to the smart craft and will alarm if it detects water there. You can and should drain it off through the season.
I’d dip the oil too. Just to make sure. You should have 5.1/5.2 litres in there from memory.
Do you have the smart craft gauges ? They should show the alarm on there. If you don’t. A cheap option that shows all engine data and alarms is the vessel view mobile device for about $200. Great wee thing.
