Intermittent starting problem?

I took the boat out for a test run yesterday for about 1.5 hr or so and came out pretty well. Anyways, i wasted about an hour or so trying to get the boat started because it wouldn't crank when I turn the key. I played around with the shifter, pulling it out the shifter was a little difficult so I got that lubed. I got it started but I have to wiggle & jiggle the shifter & the ignition key.

If you don't hear anything clicking and you have to hold the key to start while you move the shifter to get it to crank, it's the neutral switch in the control box that's bad. If you have to keep turning the key on and off of start and it clicks each time until it cranks, the problem is at the engine but you will need to run tests.
