Re: interrupt switch

If the switch itself is sticking, replace it. They are not repairable. But, if your problem is that the engine dies when you put it in gear or coming out of gear, then you probably have a bad lower shift cable. Not a bad switch.

You didn't Answer Don's Question,.......

What makes you Think it's the Switch,..??..??

9 times out of 10,...... The Problem is the Lower Shift Cable,......

Not the Switch.......

Re: interrupt switch

shift it with prop in water; and look at the switch; if the finger thing is not letting it back to not touching it; cable is bad.

I did not realize the odds were 9 out of 10 - in that case I will be looking at the lower cable
where can i get a install procedure on the lower cable?

Re: interrupt switch

I know I've given you this link several times, and I know you have seen it in other posts.
Open it, read it, save it to your favorites and consult it often.
It's a link to the Service manual for your drive.

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/6/6covr3.pdf

yes got the link - but as you stated above, if it does not stall while shifting then it is not the cable which is my case
so this link does not really address the switch right?

Re: interrupt switch

I can't find Anywhere in this thread where I see where you've stated Exactly What Your Issue IS.................

Other than you don't know Where the Switch IS, or What it Looks like......

There's enough Links posted in this thread to cover Every Switch ever used by Mercruiser...........
This 1 covers All of your Outdrive,.... Shift Cable,+ Interrupt Switch Included.....
yes I admit that I do not know where the switch is -- but that is great that you do!
whow there bondo - take it easy - i did not mean to get your panties in a bunch - you are the expert - i am the peon - maine rules!
this is a fluid discussion and as stated already, it does not stall while shifting but will not start sometimes - i am deciphering information as you guys provide it. if you give a guy a chance .....ghee whez!
