Hello all, been lurking for a while... wondering to what lengths oops will goto to have a 24 foot boat... damn I have only made it through the first 100 pages...

I have a 1990 Chaparral 2000SL, Bow rider, was repowered in 2003 with a Merc 350 MPI (300HP) yes I know it is "over the recommended maximum power" but it is fun, and the boat is holding together well all things considered.

I need to replace my floor, and have been wondering about the Chap build quality of the early 90s, especially under the floor. The stringers around the engine look to be in GREAT shape, and are rock solid. Does anyone have a little experience poking round under the decks on these older chaps that might be able to lend some insight here?

I also plan on rearanging the seating, as I dislike the rear "hump" and want to have a full engine bay / rear bench. what beter time to redo the seating than when it is apart for a new floor...

Should the new wood used for the seating recieve the same glass encapsulation as the rest of the wood? I plan to vacuum bag as much as possible to ensure good glass bond and penetration of the epoxy to the wood (yes I will be using epoxy not poly, I hate the poly fumes, and while the epoxy is more expensive, it should also last longer)

I will post pics of the progress, as I plan to pull the seating and deck out this weekend as long as the weather cooperates... I love the boat, and plan to use it for many seasons, but the early 90s interior has got to go...

let me hear your suggestions and thoughts, and oops, I hope I get to the point where i get to see a video of your boat moving under power... just haven't gotten to that point in your thread (just got to the point of the debate over cutting the transom hole! round page 100 or so...)
