Inverter - shore power

I'm putting in an inverter and was wondering if I can just plug the shore power into the inverter on the AC side. That way I use the existing AC plugs and breakers.

Does that sound OK?

Thanks, Dave

Which and what size inverter? Destructions for installing the inverter will tell you how to do this. :)

Re: Inverter - shore power

400W inverter - mostly small electronics, icemaker/blender at happy hour, tacky lights. The DC part is fine, direct connect to battery with the shortest, fattest cable. Rather that run new AC extention cord and powerbars, it would look cleaner and be a lot easier using existing outlets. Plug the shore power into the dock when docked, or into the inverter when on the hook. There's usually a fatal flaw in my plans and I probably haven't found it yet.

I have a 18W solar panel and a generator if needed.

Thanks, Dave

Re: Inverter - shore power

Your gonna need more than 400 Watts. Look at your what you need to run and total up the power requirements, that will tell you what size inverter your gonna need. But yep you can plug straight into it, just means something to trip over though.
